ANNAPOLIS, MD — Governor Wes Moore today toured the Adventist HealthCare Fort Washington Medical Center in support of the Moore-Miller Administration’s efforts to build more equitable and accessible healthcare systems for Marylanders across the state. "Today’s visit to Adventist HealthCare highlights our commitment to strengthening healthcare access for all Marylanders. These investments are not just about facilities; they represent our dedication to building healthier communities and ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to thrive,” said Gov. Moore. “Together, we are paving the way for a healthcare system that meets the needs of every resident in our state."

In the Fiscal Year 2024 budget, the state secured a $5 million investment to Adventist HealthCare Fort Washington Medical Center matched with an additional $5 million from the Maryland General Assembly to support facility renovations. The Directors of Adventist HealthCare Fort Washington Medical Center, Inc. received a grant for the acquisition, construction, site improvement, and capital equipping of a new facility for Adventist Health in Fort Washington.

The center serves more than 40,000 patients annually with a dedicated staff of more than 400 employees. During the visit, Governor Moore met with hospital leadership and toured various areas of the facility, including the facility’s new intensive care unit.

"Hospitals are important partners in improving the health outcomes of their community members, and determining the needs of the community is the first step," said Maryland Department of Health Secretary Dr. Laura Herrera Scott. "My visit today made it clear that the leadership team at Adventist HealthCare Fort Washington Medical Center understands that critical component of community care."
