Governor Moore Proclaims Lamar Jackson Day In Maryland

​ANNAPOLIS, MD – Governor Wes Moore today proclaimed Sunday, February 11, 2024 as Lamar Jackson Day in honor of Mr. Jackson being named the National Football League’s Most Valuable Player for the second time. 

“Lamar Jackson is a generational talent and this Sunday across Maryland we will recognize him for his accomplishments, both on and off the field,” said Gov. Moore. "We commend and celebrate him for his incredible achievement as this year’s MVP.”


WHEREAS, Lamar Demeatrice Jackson Jr., quarterback for the Baltimore Ravens, has received his second Most Valuable Player Award from the National Football League and becomes only the eleventh quarterback in the history of the NFL to achieve this remarkable feat; and

WHEREAS, Lamar Jackson received this prestigious award following a season where he led the Baltimore Ravens to the American Football Conference Championship, threw 3,678 passing yards and completed 24 passing touchdowns, 5 rushing touchdowns, and rushed for 821 yards, the most for any quarterback in the 2023 NFL season; and

WHEREAS, Lamar Jackson this season finished with the fourth highest quarterback passing rating in the NFL at 102.7; and

WHEREAS, Lamar Jackson has given his all to his play on the field, to his team, to the people of Baltimore and to the State of Maryland; and

WHEREAS, Lamar Jackson’s achievements, work ethic, strength, and leadership on the field and in the community are a shining example of excellence and a dedication that all Marylanders can all be incredibly proud of.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, WES MOORE, Governor of Maryland, do hereby proclaim Sunday, February 11th, 2024 as: Lamar Jackson Day in the State of Maryland.
