FREELAND, MD – Lieutenant Governor Aruna K. Miller, Chair of the Governor’s Interfaith Council, will lead a statewide day of service with Maryland’s interfaith leaders on July 10th at First Fruit Farms in Baltimore County.
First Fruit Farms - a 281-acre, faith-based nonprofit - donates all of its fresh produce to organizations supporting food-insecure families across the region. As the largest supplier of fresh produce to the Maryland Food Bank, the farm plays a vital role in strengthening food access and community health.
Lieutenant Governor Miller will be joined by Director of Faith Outreach, Dr. Lora Hargrove, volunteers from faith communities across the state, and members of the Governor’s Interfaith Council, which fosters collaboration among leaders from Jewish, Muslim, Christian, Hindu, and other faith communities. Together in service they will demonstrate the unifying power of faith in action.
“Our Administration is committed to making Maryland a national model for service,”
said Lt. Gov. Aruna Miller. “Our faith leaders embody the power of service-driven leadership—showing every day that real leadership unites, uplifts, and delivers results. We’re proud to lock arms with First Fruit Farms for a day of service that will directly strengthen our fight against food insecurity across the State of Maryland.”
“This is a wonderful opportunity to lead through service and uplift the most vulnerable in our communities,”
said Maryland Director of Faith Outreach Dr. Lora Hargrove. “Faith is a light that shines brightest through action. When faith communities lead in service, they become living examples of compassion and hope.”
The event will begin with a tour of the farm, followed by a guided harvesting session in which the Lieutenant Governor and members of the Interfaith Council will help gather fruits and vegetables for distribution.
Press are welcome and encouraged to attend. Photography and video footage will be permitted. Please email Director of Communications Brandon Stoneburg at
