Dawn Flythe Moore is the First Lady of the State of Maryland. With more than two decades of leadership in state government, non-profit management, campaign strategy, fundraising, and community engagement, First Lady Moore brings a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to public service.

She has served at the highest levels of Maryland’s state government, including roles in the administrations of Governors Parris Glendenning and Martin O’Malley, and former Maryland Lieutenant Governors Kathleen Kennedy Townsend and Anthony Brown. A strategist and natural relationship builder, she was one of the architects of the historic 2022 campaign that elected her husband, Wes Moore, as Maryland’s 63rd Governor and the first African-American governor in the state.

Throughout her career, First Lady Moore has established herself as a connector and a convener, leveraging her platform to unite public and private stakeholders around a shared vision for Maryland’s future.

As First Lady, her passion-driven initiatives align with her core pillars: supporting military families, improving children’s mental health, advancing women’s economic empowerment, and expanding access to the arts. She champions these causes through events and initiatives including hosting arts and military families events at Government house, partnering with the Children’s Mental Health Matters Campaign and Blue Star Families, and supporting countless Maryland arts and culture institutions.

She currently serves as co-chair of Preakness Festival, where her vision and leadership has been instrumental in this state-wide initiative designed to advance economic growth and tourism through innovative public-private partnerships.

First Lady Moore is known for her ability to bring people together across industries and communities. Her expertise in strategic planning, relationship management, and executing large-scale events has made her an invaluable asset to the Moore-Miller Administration and a trusted voice in Maryland’s civic and cultural landscape.

A proud graduate of the University of Maryland College Park and a member of the university’s Alumni Hall of Fame, she holds a degree in Government and Politics and a certificate in Women’s Studies. The First Lady and Governor live in Annapolis with their two children, Mia and James – and their beloved dog, Tucker Balti Moore.
