Maryland Immigrant Rights Protection Task Force

The Governor’s Office of Immigrant Affairs (OIA) is pleased to announce the publication of the Maryland Immigrant Rights Protection Task Force’s (Task Force) initial report.

As required by Executive Order 01.01.2026.11, the Task Force’s initial report describes the Task Force’s initial assessment of fraud, scams, and exploitation targeting immigrant Marylanders and of barriers and challenges facing immigrant Marylanders in the protection of their rights under state and local law. It  draws upon a community roundtable organized by OIA in May 2026 featuring testimony from 20 community leaders, as well as written submissions shared by community members, service providers, and advocates. The report will inform the Task Force’s efforts to identify and implement strategies to strengthen multilingual outreach and rights education, investigations and enforcement, and coordination and referrals among agencies.
