  • Work Zone Safety Work Group

Lieutenant Governor Miller serves as chair of the Governor’s Work Zone Safety Work Group.

Announced in April of 2023, the group includes individuals with expertise in the transportation sector, including law enforcement officers, labor leaders, traffic engineers, highway safety experts, and workers with direct experience in work zones. Across Maryland on any given day, there are on average 1,000 roadway workers improving Maryland’s transportation infrastructure at more than 300 work sites, in addition to law enforcement personnel at those same work sites.

The group will meet regularly and identify actions to improve work zone safety for roadway workers, law enforcement, and motorists. Group members were tasked with developing a set of recommendations by the end of 2023 that outline specific actions to keep roadway workers safe and decrease the number of crashes that occur in construction work sites on Maryland highways.

  • Maryland Council on Innovation and Impact

    About Us

Established by Executive Order in May 2023, the Maryland Council on Innovation and Impact works to ensure that the expertise and resources of innovative social sector organizations are leveraged, deployed, and aligned with the efforts of the State to meet common challenges.

To encourage the flow of innovation, talent, and resources across the social, government, and private sectors, the Council will identify and explore ways in which these cross-sector partnerships can be developed and strengthened in Maryland. The Council is also responsible for infusing the State’s innovation and impact work with the best available evidence, ensuring that the State measures results and contributes to the existing evidence base where possible, and identifying and encouraging policies that increase and sustain charitable giving, volunteerism, and state service.

Furthermore, the Council will bring ideas and policy options to the Governor for developing, leveraging, and maintaining cross-sector partnerships to deliver community services and accelerate the pace of positive change at the community level in Maryland.
