Established by executive order in May 2023, the Maryland Council on Innovation and Impact works to ensure that the expertise and resources of innovative social sector organizations are leveraged, deployed, and aligned with the efforts of the State to meet common challenges.

To encourage the flow of innovation, talent, and resources across the social, government, and private sectors, the Council will identify and explore ways in which these cross-sector partnerships can be developed and strengthened in Maryland. The Council is also responsible for infusing the State’s innovation and impact work with the best available evidence, ensuring that the State measures results and contributes to the existing evidence base where possible, and identifying and encouraging policies that increase and sustain charitable giving, volunteerism, and state service.

Furthermore, the Council will bring ideas and policy options to the Governor for developing, leveraging, and maintaining cross-sector partnerships to deliver community services and accelerate the pace of positive change at the community level in Maryland.
