Governor’s Office of Small, Minority & Women Business Affairs Releases 2019 Technical Training Classroom Schedule
State Agencies Collaborate to Help Small Businesses Compete with Confidence
ANNAPOLIS, MD – The Governor’s Office of Small, Minority & Women Business Affairs today announced its 2019 Technical Training Classroom schedule. The 22 sessions, offered at no cost to small business owners and entrepreneurs, focus on improving operational efficiencies and navigating the state procurement process.
“Maryland is open for business and we want our small businesses to compete with confidence,” said Jimmy Rhee, special secretary of the Governor’s Office of Small, Minority & Women Business Affairs. “This program drew over 800 participants in 2018, and based on their feedback, it’s making a positive difference.”
Half of the programming will be provided by subject-matter-experts within state agencies. The Maryland Department of Commerce, the Department of General Services, and the Department of Labor, Licensing & Regulation will join the Governor’s Office of Small, Minority & Women Business Affairs to cover topics such as state and federal procurement processes, eMarylandMarketplace tools, prevailing and living wage laws, and subcontractor rights and responsibilities within the Minority Business Enterprise Program.
“Maryland Commerce is pleased to be a part of this important program, as we want to make sure Maryland’s entrepreneurs and small business owners have the tools and the training they need for their companies to succeed,” said Maryland Commerce Secretary Mike Gill. “This program is a great resource for our small business community.”
Small business resource organizations and small business owners lend their expertise to the program as well to round out the curriculum by covering topics such as proposal writing, marketing techniques, contract & price analysis, negotiation skills, and cash flow management.
The Technical Training Classroom offers a morning and afternoon session on the fourth Tuesday of each month (except December) at the Governor’s Coordinating Offices located at 100 Community Place in Crownsville. Registration is free, but seating is limited and advance registration is required.
