Governor’s Coordinating Offices Announces Record 2018

Millions in Grants, Millions of Marylanders Served

ANNAPOLIS, MD – The Governor’s Coordinating Offices today announced a record year of serving Marylanders, with several milestones including 1,000 outreach events, facilitating two million volunteer hours with thousands of volunteers mobilized, and helping more than half a million crime victims. The Governor’s Coordinating Offices build, communicate, and implement services, programs, and policy initiatives across the state on behalf of the Hogan administration.

“With nearly $200 million in grants serving our citizens, the launch of the ‘Text to 911’ service, more than 20,000 small businesses assisted, and being named a “Model State” by the National Governors Association, there is no question that 2018 was a particularly successful year for the coordinating offices,” said Patrick J. Lally, Senior Executive Director of the Governor’s Coordinating Offices. “We are proud to connect millions of Marylanders to needed resources statewide and to help lead Governor Hogan’s Customer Service Initiative statewide.”

Located in Crownsville, Maryland, each coordinating office works to connect people and resources across Maryland on specific issues. In 2018, this consisted of seven unique offices that share services to reduce costs and connect Marylanders with needed resources statewide.

Other highlights includes:

Governor’s Office for Children:

  • Nearly $20 million awarded to Local Management Boards
  • Funded more than 100 statewide services
  • Selected as Model State by National Governors Association

Governor’s Office of Community Initiatives:

  • 50,000 books and 3,000 backpacks distributed since 2015
  • 8,000 volunteers mobilized in 2018
  • 2 million volunteer hours served

Governor’s Office of Crime Control and Prevention:

  • 500,000 crime victims assisted
  • Provided $170 million in funding for statewide programs
  • Provided $50 million in victim services grants

Governor’s Office of the Deaf & Hard of Hearing:

  • Helped launch statewide 911 text service
  • Hosted nation’s 1st Deaf Business Summit
  • Served 1.2 million Deaf and hard of hearing Marylanders

Governor’s Office of Performance Improvement:

  • America’s #1 data portal
  • Collected 100,000 Governor’s Customer Service Initiative surveys from Marylanders: 87 percent satisfaction rate

Governor’s Office of Service and Volunteerism:

  • $4.6 million awarded in AmeriCorps grants
  • 25,000 Maryland volunteers recognized
  • 6,000 Governor’s Service Certificates issued

Governor’s Office of Small, Minority & Women Business Affairs:

  • Nearly 20,000 Maryland small businesses served
  • Hosted 35 training events and procurement connection workshops
  • Participated in 142 statewide outreach events
