The Moore-Miller Administration is committed to creating a data-driven, heart-led government. See examples of how we're using data to deliver results for Marylanders.

Governor Moore Issued Pardons for 175,000 Maryland Cannabis Possession Convictions

On June 17, 2024, Governor Moore issued an Executive Clemency Order pardoning certain Maryland convictions related to the simple possession of cannabis (the “Cannabis Pardon Order”). His historic action pardoned 175,000 Maryland convictions for cannabis possession, which removes barriers to employment, housing, and other services. The order is the largest pardon for misdemeanor cannabis possession charges for any state and the inclusion of paraphernalia makes Maryland the first state to take such action.

Maryland Reduced Veteran Wait Times at Benefits Service Locations to No More than 15 Days as of November 2024

Many veterans prefer in-person appointments with veterans benefits specialists to help them navigate the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs claims process, but in-person appointments meant longer wait times. In 2024, the Maryland Department of Veterans and Military Families took actions to dramatically reduce wait time to see a specialist at their most in-demand service centers. And, as of November 2024, veterans could see a benefits specialist in 15 days or less at every veterans benefits service location.

Maryland SUN Bucks Helped Feed More Than Half a Million Children in Summer 2024 — Six Times More Than the Previous Summer

Many children lose access to free and reduced-price meals from school during the summer, forcing families to stretch their grocery budgets. As a result, children may experience greater food insecurity – which can have serious consequences for their health, well-being, and educational success. While historically Maryland has been able to support only a fraction of families that could benefit, the Moore-Miller Administration’s efforts to expand access and improve data sharing in the summer of 2024 led the state to feed more than half a million children. The State of Maryland issued $71.5 million in federally-funded grocery buying benefits, and local government matching funds were not required.
