ANNAPOLIS, MD—Governor Wes Moore released the following statement on the outcome of the 2024 Presidential Election:
The Maryland State House is the place where General George Washington resigned his military commission in 1783–the first time in our nation's history where the peaceful transfer of power took place and set the precedent for how electoral transitions should occur in this country. And this Tuesday, tens of millions of Americans went to the polls and exercised their democratic right and elected Donald Trump to be the next President of the United States.
Our state is grateful to the poll workers, volunteers, and elections officials who took on the mantle as custodians of our democratic process. And I am thankful to Vice President Harris for her moving concession address and doing her part to advance the successful transfer of power with integrity and patriotism.
I also want the people of Maryland to know that the Moore-Miller Administration’s promise to leave no one behind remains steadfast, and we will continue to move forward as we always have in our state—together.
