ANNAPOLIS, MD - Governor Wes Moore today visited the Maryland Department of Information Technology headquarters in Crownsville. Joined by Maryland Department of Information Technology Secretary Katie Savage, agency leadership and employees, the governor’s visit came in support of the Moore-Miller Administration’s efforts to modernize state service by improving Maryland’s information technology infrastructure.

“I’m grateful for everyone who works at the Maryland Department of Information Technology. Together, we are moving in partnership to make state government more efficient and effective – with an eye toward delivering for the people we serve,” said Gov. Moore. “The world is changing, and the only question is whether Maryland will be reactive or proactive. The DoIT team is helping us ensure that Maryland leads.”

The Moore-Miller Administration and the Maryland Department of Information Technology are committed to providing vital technology solutions that allow the executive branch, state agencies and coordinating offices to provide Marylanders with the services that enable them to live and work more safely, efficiently, and productively. Transforming the digital experience in State government focuses on the responsible use of artificial intelligence, user-centered design in digital services, ensuring equal access to all information technology, and protecting Maryland’s digital infrastructure through enhanced intergovernmental partnerships.

Governor Moore met with agency leadership to learn more about progress on the key transformation priorities announced in January, including an artificial intelligence executive order, the creation of the Maryland Digital Service, implementation of Maryland’s first-ever Digital Accessibility Policy, and strengthened efforts to ensure Maryland IT infrastructure is secure from cybersecurity threats. The governor also toured the state’s Security Operation Center, which is in operation 24 hours per day, 7 days per week to monitor alerts and initiate notification and response to cybersecurity incidents.

“The Maryland Department of Information Technology main goal is to allow our sister agencies to achieve their goals more efficiently through the use of modernized and secure IT systems,” said Maryland Department of Information Technology Secretary Katie Savage. “I am extremely proud of the hard work and dedication that I see on a daily basis from our incredible employees.”
