ANNAPOLIS, MD — Governor Wes Moore yesterday attended the ribbon cutting for the new Choice Hotels International corporate headquarters in North Bethesda. Comptroller Brooke Lierman, Treasurer Dereck Davis, Maryland Department of Commerce Secretary Kevin Anderson, Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich, Montgomery County officials, members of the Maryland General Assembly, and representatives from Choice Hotels joined Governor Moore to celebrate the new facility and the new opportunities that its expansion will bring to the state.
“Choice Hotels’ decision to build their new corporate headquarters in Maryland sent a very, very clear message to the state, to the nation, and to the world: When you are thinking about where to grow your business, think about Maryland first,”
said Gov. Moore. “This is a critical investment in our communities, but it won’t be the last. We are going to keep up the work, we are going to keep up the partnership, and we will make this Maryland’s decade.”
While located in Rockville, Choice Hotels announced its move to a new 100,000+ square-foot office space in North Bethesda at the mixed-use Pike & Rose development. The new corporate headquarters will be home to nearly 400 jobs and will help drive tourism and generate economic growth in the region. To assist with the company’s expansion, the Maryland Department of Commerce approved a $1.6 million conditional loan through its
Advantage Maryland program.
“I want to congratulate Choice Hotels on the opening of their new global headquarters at Pike and Rose and thank them for their continued investment in Montgomery County,”
said Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich. “One of this company’s first hotels was opened in Montgomery County by the Bainum family and their success helped establish our reputation as being a global hospitality epicenter. The 400 employees working at this new headquarters location are in a space and location designed for collaboration and innovation. We look forward to their continued success and presence in Montgomery County, which is good for the entire state.”
Choice Hotels history dates back to 1939 and has since had more than 80 years of innovation and industry firsts. With nearly 7,500 hotels in more than 45 countries and territories, the company has more than a dozen hotel brands under its name that provide a wide range of lodging options to travelers.
