Statement from Governor Martin O'Malley
ANNAPOLIS, MD (July 2, 2009) – Governor Martin O’Malley issued this statement today following the ruling in Baltimore City Circuit Court dismissing a lawsuit filed by Constellation Energy Group, which challenged the authority of the Maryland Public Service Commission to investigate a deal to sell $4.5 billion in nuclear assets to EDF:
“We are pleased with the Court’s ruling. We look forward to continuing with the Public Service Commission review and we remain focused on the goal we have held throughout these proceedings: a thorough review of this proposed transaction by professional regulators to ensure that the transaction is consistent with the public interest and adequately protects ratepayers.”
